The Strategic Links initiative was launched in India in December 2004, when a small ad hoc group met in New Delhi to answer the question: "How can spouses and partners of globally mobile workers gain more control over their own careers?"  The group established Strategic Links Trust, an India-based educational organization that, in turn, created the professional membership association, Strategic Links India.

The association, with chapters in Delhi, Hyderabad and Chennai, operated for nearly five years.  Under the leadership of a small group of dedicated professionals, most of whom volunteered their time to Strategic Links India, the association:

  • produced and continuously updated a Guide to Employment in India;
  • supported 186 individual members and 20 organisational members; conducted 74 seminars, workshops and round-tables, with 825 participants;
  • advertised 140 positions for 62 different organisations; and,
  • assisted 75 members secure jobs; 24 members find career-building volunteer roles and 11 members enrol in educational programmes.

On August 31, 2009, Strategic Links Trust closed its professional membership association, Strategic Links India.  The Trust remains committed to identifying new ways to carry out its mission via other programmes and services.   New initiatives will be announced on this website as they become available.
